MRI reports reads the L5-S1 disc has diminished height and signal intensity. Mild diffuse disc bulging is present at L5-S1 which is minimally impinging on the thecal sac. There is no impingement on the S1 nerves.
What does this mean. How can I make the pain go away? Who do I see? What do I do? |

Hey bill, by the sounds of it your disc is slightly dehydrated and has bulged outwards evenly and just started to press against your spinal cord. It would seam to me that the pain your talking of may be from the facet joints on your spine bones and not from your S1 nerve root area, it would pay first to look at any of your lifestyle choices that may be agravating your back...booze drugs etc can deydrate you and also your diet and weight. It would be good to see a physio as they can instruct you on the excersises and you will need painkillers and ibprofen or voltaren to help you cope with the extra pain you will go thru on your way to recovery.Good luck Bill hope you find something in there that helps.Peace! |

Had another MRI with and w/o contrast on 05-20-10. Had 5 back surgeries last in in 5 months. This new MRI states I have a mild dextroscoliosis centered at L#. L5-S1 disc has diminished signal intensisty There is central right-sided protrusion on thenL5-S1 disc which in minimally impinging on the right s1 nerve. Also there is right-sided enhancing epidural fibrosis which partially surrounds the right S1 nerve. The facet joints etc. are normal |
